Once you're finished choosing the look of your character, you'll be able to choose their birthday and patron god or goddess. These options are for cosmetic purposes only. People who own the original version can simply download a large update for their version of the game to gain access to FFXIV: ARR. If you picked up the original and were let down, it is highly suggested you give the game a second chance. The questing structure was completely reworked and the game has basically evolved into an entirely new beast. Classes, Jobs, Locations and everything else has seen some work done. The first question nearly everyone asks about this game is 'How has it changed since the original version?' Well the answer is that nearly everything has been changed. A level cap of 20 has been set during these periods, to ensure people don't reach max level before the games official launch, but other than that all other content should be available, barring any serious bugs or issues that may arise.įinal Fantasy XIV vs. All characters created in the Open Beta and Early Access will carry over to launch. Early Access starts on the 24th and will run all the way until launch as well.

European data center players can only jump to Chaos and Light, and Japanese data center players can only go to Elemental, Mana, and Gaia.Early Access is for people who have already pre-ordered the game. You can only jump around the data centers in your region, meaning that if you’re playing in the North American data center Aether, you can only jump to Primal and Crystal. After you finally arrive in the target data center, you’ll be able to jump from world-to-world using the main Aetherytes in Gridania, Ul’Dah, and Limsa Lominsa, as usual. Once the process begins, you won’t be able to login on another character or cancel the jump. To start the data center traveling process, select the character you want to move on the main login screen and select “Visit Another Data Center.” Once you do this, you’ll be able to select a data center and world to move to. You also won’t be able to use any of your normal linkshells. You won’t have access to things like FC buffs or your retainers while you’re in another data center (similar to world travel), so you likely won’t want to be away from home for too long. (It took us around 31 minutes to jump from Primal to Aether at around noon on a Wednesday, for reference.)
